2005 International Songwriting Competition announces Children's Music Winners

Awards The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is pleased to announce the winners for its 2005 annual competition. ISC received almost 15,000 entries from 82 countries in its fourth year, and has been called "the songwriting competition to take note of" by the New York Times. ISC prizes include more than $150,000 (USD) in cash and merchandise shared by 50 winners in 16 categories.




"I Believe In B," written by Marc Dinkin, is awarded First Place in the Children's Music category. Dinkin is an experienced professional when it comes to writing children's music. He has written for Music Pen multimedia, Ragu.com, and The Learning Company, and he is also credited with some well-known musicals. His latest, SUV: The Musical won an award at New York City's International Fringe Festival, and was an off-Broadway hit at the Wings Theatre. Dinkin's band, Youngster, has been successful as well - they have headlined at CMJ and North By Northeast, and they have been the recipients of Swing magazine's Best Unsigned Band Award.

"Family Vacation," written by Sam Glaser, earned Second Place in the Children's Music category, and "Born For A Reason," written by Figureheads band members Greg Marshall and Jeremy Bryan, earned Third Place.

In addition to these winners, 11 other songs garnered placement in the top 1.4% of the competition.
